How Mission Hope collects consent for text messages

Thessalonika Family Services, Inc., DBA Mission Hope

Who texts you, and why

Mission Hope sends text messages through Sunny, our program platform. We only text you about services you have asked for or applied for — for example:

  • Your food pantry check-in QR code and code reminders
  • Links to community resource guides your case manager prepares for you
  • One-time password reset codes, if you ask for one

We never send advertising texts, and we never share your mobile number. Message frequency varies with the services you use. Msg & data rates may apply.

How you opt in online

When you apply for assistance on our website, the phone number field is followed by an optional checkbox. It starts unchecked — the application works whether or not you check it. Here is the exact wording:

Shown exactly as it appears on our assistance application. It starts unchecked — checking it is always up to you.

La versión en español del mismo cuadro de confirmación:

Se muestra exactamente como aparece en nuestra solicitud de asistencia. Siempre comienza sin marcar; marcarlo depende de usted.

How you opt in in person or by phone

When staff collect your phone number, they ask before they save your consent. Staff read this script:

“Mission Hope, also known as Thessalonika Family Services, would like to send you text messages at this number about your services, such as food pantry check-in codes and resource guide links. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Agreeing is optional and not required for services. Do you agree to receive these texts?”

If you say yes, staff record your agreement on your file along with the date and the words above, and we text you the confirmation request below. If you say no, nothing is recorded and you will not receive text messages.

Password reset texts

If you add your own mobile number in your account settings and ask for a password reset, you agree to this wording at that time:

“I agree to receive text messages from Mission Hope at this number, including one-time password reset codes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

Confirming your opt-in (reply YES)

Agreeing online, in person, or in your account settings is only the first step. We then send you exactly one text asking you to confirm. Until you reply YES, we will not send you any other text message.

Mission Hope: Reply YES to confirm you want texts about your services (check-in codes, resource links). Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.

En español:

  • If you don't reply, a staff member may resend the request (no more than once a day, three times in total). If there is still no reply after 30 days, the request expires and we will not text you.

Consent is never required

Consent is not a condition of receiving services. You can receive help from Mission Hope — including food pantry check-in codes and resource guides by email or in person — without agreeing to text messages.
